Aishwarya Rai was born on November, 1st, 1973 in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. She was born in the family of a merchant marine fleet officer and a writer. She has an elder brother. The mother tongue of Aishwarya Rai is Tulu, she also speaks Hindi, English, Tamil and Bengali. In childhood she learnt classical music and dancing. After college she entered the university where she studied architecture then she became a model. In 1994 she won the competition “Ms. World”. After that she participated in advertising company of Pepsi and posed for Vogue Magazine.
She dated with Salman Khan for some years. But they parted. After that she had relations with actor Vivek Oberoi. On January, 14th 2007 she declared about her engagement with actor Abhishek Bachchan and on April, 20th the same year they got married. Her first role in the cinema she played in the film “Iruvar”. It was met rather cool by critics however it was followed by success and for the role in the film “… Aur Paar Ho Gaya” Aishwarya Rai was awarded as the best debutant. In 2000 she received an award in the nomination Best Actress for acting in “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”. In 2001 she was nominated as the best actress for the role of Satish Kaushik’s in the film “Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai”. In 2002 she acted in the most successful Bollywood film “Devdas”. In 2003 Aishwarya Rai was a member of the Cannes film festival jury. Then Aishwarya signed an advertising contract with L’Oreal and participated in advertising companies of Coca-Cola and DeBeers. Aishwarya Rai is the first Indian woman in Madame Tussaud’s wax museum.
