Rose McGowan used to be in close public relations with rock musician Marilyn Manson which lasted three years and a half. After a formal engagement lasting two years, McGowan put an end to the relationship because of ‘lifestyle differences.”  Before the release of Grindhouse there were rumors that McGowan dated married director Robert Rodriguez. In May 2007 they appeared hand-in-hand at the Cannes Film Festival thus confirming their relations. On October 12, 2007 McGowan was announced to be engaged to Rodriguez. Their wedding is planned for 2009. Rodriguez planned to shoot a remake of the classical film 1968 ” Barbarella ” with McGowan playing the leading part.
