Colin Farrell was born on May, 31st 1976 in Castleknock, Dublin. He was the fourth child in the family of professional football player Eamon Farrell, playing for “Shamrock Rovers” club. In youth Farrell had rater an obstinate character — instead of going to school he preferred to do with friends to local bars, smoked marihuana and stole in shops. At the age of seventeen he was expelled from school for a fight with the teacher who found Farrell sleeping at a lesson, and instead of getting apologies he was beaten. After that incident he went for a year to Australia with his friends. Having returned to Dublin Farrell followed the advice of his elder brother and went school of actor’s skill.
In 1996 he debuted in the cinema in a drama “The Disappearance of Finbar” although his role was so insignificant that he wasn’t even mentioned in the cast list. Then in 1997 he played a small role in a cheap film “Drinking Crude” and in summer next year Farrell acted in a miniserial “Ballykissangel”. Soon Farrell who always hated any kind of educational institutions gave up school and for some time earned his living acting in advertising. Then having got some acting experiebce he took part in performance in a small London theatre Donmar Warehouse. The role at the theatre was remarkable for Farrell basically because due to it he got acquainted with Kevin Spacey. He paid attention to Farrell’s acting and advised producers to invite him to one of the supporting roles of the future film “Ordinary Decent Criminal”. The first appreciable role Farrell played in 1999 in psychological thriller “The War Zone”. At that time Farrell acted on TV having played in seven episodes of a rather popular teleserial in Ireland Ballykissangel. In July, 2001 Farell married actress Amelia Warner however their marriage didn’t last long and in November of the same year the couple divorced. On September, 12th, 2003 the Canadian model Kim Bordenave gave birth to Farell’s son. However the couple also split up. In 2007 Farrell declared that his son suffers from Angelman syndrome.
