More often than not the term is applied to a marriage between Hollywood celebrities, but of recently it has come to mean a marriage of a short span ending in divorce. Such short term fairy tales, are often said to crumble due to immense media pressure and increased expectations from fans world wide. The demanding careers of famous spouses are another attribute of a quick separation, as limited time spend together causes doubt and sparks rumors of affairs. The shadow cast upon such marriages by the paparazzi makes a bigger deal out of the even that it actually is, blowing a divorce (if such takes place) to enormous international proportions. The celebrity icon of a Hollywood marriage is believed to be Elizabeth Taylor, who was married 8 times to 7 different husbands over the course of her life. Increased expectations and pickiness of some personas cannot simply be blamed on “fame stress”.
