Origin Stoke-on-Trent, England

Robbie Williams was born on February, 13th 1974 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Robbie had an absolutely ordinary childhood. His parents were owners of a pub near a football ground “Port Vale”. When the boy was three they for some reason decided to divorce. However Robbie asserts that it was not reflected on his psychic. The children (Robbie and his sister) stayed with their mother. From his father who used to be a comedy actor in his youth, Robbie (by the way, mum calls him Robert) inherited the talent of acting and though now he is well-known for his musical creations, his sense of humour never deprived him and it is seen in his performances and interviews.
Already at the age of he sung the song “Summer Nights” from a sensational film “Grease” on the stage of a small Spanish town. Robbie wasn’t doing well at school perhaps because of ambition and intention to make a show career, and his marks were below average. But he always took part in school performances. Besides he was a promising football player. In general he liked doing different things. He wanted to become famous most of all. “I was always sure to become well-known. It was my destiny” – says Robbie. And he got such a possibility rather quickly. Robbie read in newspaper that there was a casting of the fifth participant to a new rock-group Take That. It went to auditions and, to his greatest surprise (he was sure to have failed), in some days he was accepted to the group. It happened in 1990. Actually, Robbie and his friends hated boys-bands but he didn’t let this problem prevent him from going the path predetermined by his destiny. In July, 1995 Williams left the group, and in half a year it split up. Nobody could think then that Robbie will achieve great success in solo career but such was his destiny’s desire. Having left the group Robbie led not so healthy way of life, took drugs and drank much alcohol, not paying much attention to music. He often appeared in yellow press, due to his drunk pranks and attacks towards his former group mates. In August, 1996 he recorded his single “Freedom”. Eventually Robbie gave up alcohol and seriously worked at album recording. Besides his love to music Robbie has also actor’s ambitions. So in each video clip he tries to create the image of a hero worth appearing on the big screen. Probably it is a time question, and soon the singer will become an actor but we hope that he will not give up music which becomes better with every track.
