Tom Cruise was born on July, 3rd 1962 in Syracuse, New York. His mother was an actress, and father – an engineer and because of his problems with employment the family had to move from one place to another rather often. Since childhood Tom had inferiority complex because of small height: at school he tried to communicate with smaller children to look taller and to become a few centimeters taller he went actively in for various kinds of sports. He wasn’t doing well at school in many respects because he like his mother was suffered fro dyslexia (a rare illness consisting in problem perception of letters and texts). Because of his problems with study he was even translated to a specialized group but Tom managed to cope with his illness and returned to a normal class.
When Tom was 12 his father left his wife and without his financial support the family faced many difficulties: to support his mother Tom and his three sisters often had to job after school. During a year Tom attended theological seminary but later he gave up and went to an ordinary college. There he took part in theater performances, and eventually understood that it was his line. Having realised it he moved in 1980 to New York in search of glory, having changed his long name for the habitual “Tom Cruise”. Soon he got his first role in the film “Endless Love”. The film “Risky Business” became the first great success of Cruise in the cinema. The film Top Gun released in1985 fixed this success. His magnificent actor talent Cruise showed in the film “Rain Man”. However his talent was really revealed in drama “Born on the Fourth of July”. For performing the role of a morally and physically destroyed veteran of the War in Vietnam Tom was nominated for “Oscar”. In 1990 during filming “Days of Thunder” Cruise got acquainted with Nicole Kidman, his future love and spouse. And they didn’t manage to have their own children, they adopted two sweet boys. In 1996 Tom managed to make his old dream to play a hero like James Bond come true, having acted in the first “Mission: Impossible”. One of his most sincere films was “Jerry Maguire” after which Tom Cruise became a Hollywood star.
